2025 DoD Cohort Program
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Due June 2, 2025 at 9 am
The DoD Cohort Program will prepare a select group of up to 20 Stony Brook faculty members for grant submissions to DoD by Summer 2026. Members of the cohort will receive strategic advising support from McAllister & Quinn, tailored prospecting and program contact identification, and additional support from the Office of Proposal Development team.
Eligibility
- Must be a full-time Stony Brook faculty member
- Must commit to submitting the proposal developed during the program to the DoD by Summer 2026.
How to Apply
All applications must be submitted via InfoReady.You can sign in using your Net-ID and your @stonybrook.edu email address. Please allow
sufficient time to familiarize yourself with the portal prior to submitting your application.
Submissions must be submitted no later than 9 am on Monday, June 2, 2025, via the DoD Cohort Program Portal in InfoReady.
Candidates will be asked to answer the following questions and upload the following
document into the portal:
- Principal Investigator (PI) and Eligibility Information:
- PI name, email, school/college and department, and SBU title and status
- Project Concept (Most responses need not exceed 300 words):
- Project Title
- What are you trying to do?
- How is it done today, and what are the limits of current practice?
- What is new in your approach and why do you think it will be successful?
- Who cares? If you are successful, what difference will it make?
- What are the risks?
- How much will it cost?
- How long will it take?
- What previous experience do you have with DoD funding, if any?
- Do you have a particular DoD funding mechanism in mind for this project?
- Upload CV (must be submitted as a PDF)
- Acknowledgments:
- I confirm that I have sufficient time to devote to being a participant in the DoD Cohort over the next year.
- I confirm that I will submit a proposal to the DoD by Summer 2026 and I understand
that if I am unable to do so, I may not be considered for future internal programs.
Selection Criteria
Compliant applications will be reviewed by the Office of Proposal Development and McAllister & Quinn for alignment with DoD funding priorities, the potential for funding by DoD, and the qualifications of the PI. Selected applicants will be notified by June 25, 2025 and will be required to confirm participation.
Post-selection Requirements
An initial kick-off meeting will be scheduled once the cohort is assembled to discuss
the timeline and objectives of the program, and the support services that will be
offered.
Participants will commit to submitting the workshopped proposal to the DoD by Summer
2026. PIs who fail to submit their proposal to the DoD by this date may not be eligible
to apply for future internal opportunities. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case
basis. Any expected delays in submitting to the DoD must be communicated to the Office
of Proposal Development as soon as possible to avoid ineligibility for future opportunities.
