Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Field Education

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Social Work, 5 years of experience in training or supervision of social workers, at least 3 years of student field instruction experience.  LMSW in the state of New York or its equivalent.  Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.  Experience working with a diverse student population and an array of human service organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

Record of prior experience at a University in either teaching, field education, or student services.  Completion of seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) or equivalent).  Demonstrated expertise in integrated physical and mental health with families and children, and experience working with underrepresented populations.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Assist in the planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating fo all internships at the Bachelor's and Master's level for the School of Social Welfare.  This function is required by our accrediting body, the Council on Social Work Education.  This position recruits, secures, and selects field education agencies and field instructors for students in the BSW and MSW program; participates in student orientations to field education; assigns students to internships; serves as a field liaison to students; updates field education forms and documents; provides intervention and support to students, field instructors and faculty; consults with field instructors, faculty and academic advisors regarding student assignments and the achievement of competencies; teaches the seminar in Field Instruction; assigns students grades in Field Education; represents the School of Social Welfare at agency and community meetings; teaches one additional course per academic year; serves as the Field Education Department designee in school committees; other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Field Education.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
