Clinical Assistant Professor - Physician Assistant (FT or PT, 3 Positions)

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program.  Licensed as a PA, or eligible for license in New York State.  Current NCCPA certification.  Graduate degree in relevant discipline completed or in progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of patient care experience.  Prior teaching experience at the college/university level.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Stony Brook PA Program is seeking full-time or part-time faculty to begin in the summer of 2018 as part of our expansion to the Stony Brook-Southampton Campus.  Successful candidates would be located in a brand new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the PA program on Stony Brook's Southampton campus, which currently houses OT, PT, MHA, and Applied Health Informatics programs, as well as Marine Sciences and Masters of Fine Arts programs.  The Southampton campus is located on Long Island's East End (about an hour from Stony Brook main campus), with varied recreational and cultural opportunities, and will be an integral part of Stony Brook's expanding clinical care network.  There will be significant integration with the students and faculty on the Stony Brook HSC campus, and the possibility that one or more of the faculty hired through this initiative would be housed at the HSC campus.

The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will serve as PA faculty member in the entry-level PA program.  The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching and supervision of PA students during the pre-clinical and clinical phases of the program, mentoring masters capstone projects, and participation in community/professional service and grant proposals/research as applicable.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
