Clinical Instructor - Nurse Practitioner

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing. Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse Practitioner in New York State. One (1) year post licensure nursing experience. Must have excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a fast paced medical practice. Experience with EMR.

Responsibilities & Requirements

As a member of the Department of Surgery, the candidate will need to take patient histories, perform a physical examination and make an assessment and diagnosis based on this information. Must be able to initiate, review and revise treatment plans, and record and present data in a manner meaningful to the supervising physician. The candidate must assist the physician with interval treatments, respond to incoming phone messages from patients and will be responsible to make call backs to patient reporting response to attending physician.



The candidate will make referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consult the physician for further definitive therapy. The candidate will perform physical examinations, identify health problems based on findings, order and evaluate appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures, instruct and counsel patient on health care, health maintenance, medical problems treatment plans, nutrition or other related issues as appropriate.



While performing the duties of this job, the candidate is regularly required to communicate with patients, office staff and medical providers. The candidate must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: January 1, 2018.
